Step inside one of Chattanooga’s leading fleet operations with a behind‑the‑scenes tour of Nichols Fleet Equipment, a family‑owned company nationally recognized for building high‑quality mechanics and service trucks. Since 1991, Nichols Fleet has grown from a small upfitter into a premier builder of custom mechanics trucks, service bodies, aerial solutions, telecom units, and specialized trailers — all guided by their philosophy: “Build it like we’d build our own.”

Guests will tour the company’s state‑of‑the‑art facility, opened in 2024, and see how skilled technicians transform raw chassis into fully outfitted, work‑ready fleet vehicles. The tour highlights each stage of the build process — engineering, fabrication, installation, finishing, and final inspection — and showcases the craftsmanship, safety standards, and attention to detail that define Nichols Fleet.

Attendees will also learn about the company’s custom design process, advanced tools and installation techniques, full‑service support model, and the role of Nichols Fleet Rentals (NFR) in providing rapid‑deployment fleet solutions nationwide.

Overview

The Spark Your Mind program is a UTC Electrical Engineering outreach initiative that delivers mailed mini‑project kits to students in grades 4–7 across the Chattanooga Valley. Over the past two years, the program has introduced young learners to electrical engineering through engaging, hands‑on activities delivered directly to their homes or classrooms.

Supported by the Chattanooga Engineers Club, the program has achieved significant impact:

1,600+ Spark Boxes delivered (over 200 per month for four months, across two years)
400+ t‑shirts provided to participating students
A growing network of teachers, families, and community partners promoting STEM engagement

What the Presentation Will Cover

The session will provide a comprehensive Spark Box program summary, including:

Key milestones from the first two years
A proposal to expand the program in the upcoming year

Making a Difference, One Shift at a Time

There is no better way to give back than by investing your time into our own neighborhood. We are thrilled to announce that we are volunteering again at the Chattanooga Food Bank! Every hour you spend packing boxes or sorting donations directly impacts local families facing food insecurity. Let’s show up, work together, and make a tangible difference in our community!

This is a joint effort of ASME Chattanooga Section and Chattanooga Engineers Club.

Required "footwear" - must be shoes that cover entire foot, FRONT AND BACK, no open toe shoes, no sandals.
