DOE Minimum Standard Efficiencies for Commercial HVAC

Wed Dec 7 at 11:30a

This month’s chapter program will give us the opportunity to learn more about DOE minimum standard efficiencies that will go into effect January 1st, 2023. The new 2023 minimum efficiency standards for commercial air conditioners and heat pumps will increase the minimum efficiency by 15% over the January 2018 efficiency standards. This second phase of regulatory increases will bring the total efficiency of these systems up by 30% from 2015. These new regulations are part of the DOE’s ongoing initiative to reduce overall energy consumption in the United States.

This program will give an overview of the 2023 regulatory requirements, testing procedures, new metrics and nomenclatures, and what they mean for you.

Tommy McMasters is a Territory Manager/Sales Engineer for Carrier Mid-South, local Chattanooga Branch. He has 31 years of experience in the mechanical HVAC industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Temple University. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 2005.
