The Tennessee Valley Robotics organization (tnvrobotics.org), which is the local chapter that represents FIRST Lego League and related programs (firstinspires.org) welcome everyone to cheer on the competition on Sat, Dec 1 at Hixson Middle School. Last year over 40 teams of students in grades 4-8 competed. Composed of up to ten students per team and two adult teacher/coaches that's a big event! Every team builds their own Lego robot designed to carry out as many missions as possible on a standardized table top game field sporting some brand new Lego parts. This year's theme is Into Orbit so the missions mimic that which is required to enter and stay in space.
Volunteers are helpful right up to the last minute, but referees are especially needed as of this posting (Nov 16) and need to get some youth work clearance and training ahead of the competition. Contact Dr. Richard Manning at rmanning@firstinspires.org for more info.
