Greater Chattanooga Region Food Bank- Navigating Challenges Including the Pandemic

Monday, December 14, 12:00 - 1:00 pm

As we enter the holiday season, the Chattanooga Engineers’ Club (CEC) will come alongside the Chattanooga Area Food Bank in an effort to give back to our neighbors that are in need. As we enter this Christmas Season, we invite other Engineering Societies and Technical Organizations to join us as we schedule a volunteer day at the local Food Bank as well as promote efforts for additional food drop-off locations throughout the Tennessee Valley. We also encourage all of the societies and organizations to join us on CEC’s final program of 2020.  Melissa Blevins, President and CEO of the Chattanooga Food Bank will provide a year-end update to the Chattanooga Engineers Club on December 14th. She will share how 2020, with pandemic for our nation and storms hitting this area, presented more challenges, and how the organization and volunteers can rise to those challenges. Ms. Blevins’ experience in leading non-profit organizations includes Girls Inc from 2017 to 2020.  She was also the Director of Operation with the food bank for many years.  She was also a safety coordinator with Beaulieu of American and a production supervisor with McCain Foods.  She is a graduate of Covenant College with a BS in Business Administration.

In addition to the volunteer opportunity, we encourage all local engineering firms, public and utility engineering departments and other consulting firms to host your own in-house food drive and forward photos of your successful food drives to CEC so we can recognize your incredible efforts during our 2021 E-Week events. The Chattanooga Engineers’ Club intends to promote the food drive from early December through our 2021 E-Week scheduled for the week of February 15, 2021 and announce total food poundage collected shortly thereafter via our social media outlets.

It is our sincere hope that each of you will join us in this much needed effort to help our neighbors in a very serious time of need.

This meeting will not qualify for PDH hours.
