Human devised refrigeration systems date back to 500 B.C. But while physics of mechanical cooling was discovered in 1756, it took 100 years to make a practical system with any significant capacity. The first mechanical cooling systems were dedicated to making bratwurst and beer (what a great heritage!) It wasn’t until 1902 that mechanical refrigeration was employed to air conditioning. The use of controlled cooling systems has transformed much of our daily lives and the past 300 years trace the clash of two competing industries. Come hear about your part in history!

Scott McKenzie is a senior engineer with March Adams and Associates, Scott has been practicing at engineering for over 40 years and has experience in designing, installing and troubleshooting a wide variety of processes and system support utilities. Mr. McKenzie shares his interest in the history of technology and invention. There’s a reason for everything that happens and this presentation will explore the history of the refrigeration industry and why we do, what we do.

Professional Development Certificates (1 hour) will be provided after the webinar.

ASHRAE awards PDHs when appropriate per their own guidelines.
