In 2023 Southern Champion Tray opened a new 300msf production facility in the Centre South industrial park off Amnicola Hwy. SCT (sctray.com) is a paperboard converter making a wide variety of containers for foods, pharmaceuticals, and other end uses. The new facility houses web cutters, carton folder/gluers, and some state-of-the-art automation for palletizing and case handling. Several of the company engineering team (all CEC members) will host the tour and describe the design and development that have gone into the new operation.
SCT is a third-generation privately-owned company approaching 100 years in Chattanooga. They continue to operate the main plant off Manufacturer's Rd and distribute product from their warehouse on Amnicola Hwy.
Directions to the new plant: Enter Riverfront Drive from Amnicola opposite the Police Services center or beside the Election Commission. SCT's entrance is plainly marked in the back center of the loop toward the river between Westinghouse and Hamilton Plastics. Follow the Visitor signs for plenty of parking. The plant is very accessible on one level and with an elevator to the second floor of the offices.
Safety glasses (some available on site) and closed-toe shoes are required.
