Ivy Academy invite us to learn about an impressive student project -
The Solar Backpack project was developed with two important goals in mind: 1. Powering Students and Teachers in Ukraine: The primary project goal is to design and build a portable power system to assist students and teachers in Ukraine. These systems will allow them to power laptops, cell phones, and ventilation fans while sheltering in bomb shelters, where consistent access to power is limited. Last year, teachers from Harbor Freight Tools for Schools built and shipped 19 solar suitcase systems for this purpose. However, there are areas in which the design could be improved, particularly regarding weight, portability, battery capacity, and ease of use. After evaluating the design, our STEM students at Ivy Academy took on the challenge to building a better system. They developed the Solar Backpack. 2. Supporting Ivy Academy’s Outdoor Learning Environment: Ivy Academy is an outdoor environmental school where students spend a significant amount of time learning outside, whether on the hiking trails or in our outdoor classrooms. The Solar Backpack project will also support the needs of Ivy Academy students and teachers.
The team of students are invited to present in Texas.
We will hear their presentation before their trip.
