Where Sparks Fly & Science Meets Steel!

ASME is teaming up with CEC to host an epic joint meeting, and we are putting the spotlight squarely on the Chattanooga State Welding Engineering Technology Program—now with a thrilling splash of NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation)!

Whether you're looking to launch a high-powered career or just obsessed with how things are built, come see how Chatt State turns students into masters of the torch.

The Toolkit: What Students Actually Do

This isn't your average classroom. We pair highly individualized instruction with hands-on, dirt-on-your-boots shop experience. Students dive deep into the math, blueprints, and precision physics behind the perfect weld.

Our future pros learn how to cut, prep, and fuse carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using industry-grade weaponry:

  • Oxyacetylene & Plasma Arc Cutting (Bringing the heat)

  • SMAW (Stick – old school, reliable, and tough)

  • GMAW (MIG – fast, clean, and efficient)

  • FCAW (Flux-core – heavy-duty powerhouse)

  • GTAW (TIG – the ultimate test of detail and artistry)

The Golden Rule: Welding is a high-stakes, detail-oriented technology. From metal prep to the final fabrication, our students learn that close attention to detail—and absolute safety—is the difference between a masterpiece and a structural fail.

Welders are the Navy SEALs of the trade world. They don't care about the weather—they work through freezing colds and blistering heats. They squeeze into awkward, cramped positions, scale high places, and master confined spaces. It’s a physical game where dodging shocks, burns, and muscle strains is all in a day's work.

Come hang out with ASME and CEC to get the full inside scoop on Chatt State's program. Let's talk shop, explore NDE, and learn about careers in welding.

Lunch will be $10 at the door (ASME Chattanooga Section) - payments accepted are Cash, Check, Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo.
