With today's tour and presentation of the Chattanooga Zoo, we celebrate a longtime engineering company in Chattanooga.

March Adams & Associates, Inc., was established in 1982 as a full-service consulting engineering firm based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The firm is a multi-disciplined organization providing a full range of civil, structural, mechanical, fire protection, electrical, and plumbing engineering services.  The firm provides engineering designs for private, commercial, industrial, and governmental sectors across the United States and overseas.

March Adams has provided engineering design services for various types of facilities, including cultural facilities over the last three decades.  These buildings include aquariums, zoos, marine and science centers, theatres, civic centers, and museums.  Projects include original builds as well as historical renovations. 

Some recent projects include:

A new cutting-edge entertainment venue. Five O Fore, in downtown New Orleans. March Adams provided the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering design on this three-story driving range, restaurant, and entertainment center. The facility includes event space for outdoor concerts, meeting and party rooms, and approximately 80 individual tee boxes set with a backdrop overlooking the famed Caesars Superdome. 

CHI Memorial's new hospital in Ringgold, Georgia. March Adams was chosen to provide civil engineering services, including design for improved access drives, parking, utility relocations, and stormwater management. Construction had to be phased to maintain access to the existing medical office building and cancer center on site. Also, attention had to be given to protecting nearby natural resources, while still providing the needed infrastructure.

With projects located throughout the continental United States and growth in our business, JEI is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Mechanical Engineer to support both current and future projects.

Job Description: The job consists primarily in Design and Development of Industrial Piping Systems with responsibilities for developing specifications, vessel design packages, piping arrangements, stress analysis, and support systems. The work is closely coordinated with Process Design, Equipment, and Structural Design. Our project team is multi discipline with Process, Structural, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Operations members.

Responsibilities include coordinating piping system design, coordinating with Process Engineers for equipment interfaces, coordinating with Structural Engineers for supports and foundations, and coordinating with Electrical Engineers for integrating with the plant power system.

Responsibilities also include directing and coordination of Piping CADD in meeting project objectives in terms of design specifications and schedule. Work is primarily 95% office and 5% field work in support of plant projects during development and construction phases. Some travel would be required. Proficiency with Caesar II, Microsoft Office Word and Excel are required. FEA modeling capability is a plus. Professional Licensure is required for certifying the final work products.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Technical 2 or 4 year degree in computer-aided design (CAD)
• Must possess computer skills and be proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Working knowledge of inspection tools and gauges
• Understanding of standards relating to gauge and machine compliance
• Must be self-motivated, willing to learn, and reliable
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must be organized with the ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and show keen attention to detail
• Understanding of tolerances and interactions between mating parts of an assembly
• Machining background (preferred)

Robert Gagliano recently retired from BASF.  Rob was the Site Director of BASF Chattanooga. Rob holds a MBA and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, both from University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Rob was the president of American Society of Mechanical Engineers Chattanooga Section, he was the board chair of Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association and Tennessee Association of Manufacturers.  Rob is currently serving as the Vice President of Chattanooga Engineers Club.

Vice President – Aaron Willey

Aaron Willey is the Senior Program Manager for TVA's Transmission Interconnection, with focus and power generation and battery storage.  He was previously with EPB as a planning engineer.  He graduated from ETSU with BS in Industrial Engineering Technology and MS in Engineering Technology. Aaron served as a board member of Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association.  

General Description:

The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (CIS) is recruiting a Solutions Consultant (IPS Public Service Professional 2) to serve the Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Program (TN MEP) in the Chattanooga and greater Southeastern Tennessee Area (Region 6), which stretches from McMinn and Polk counties in the Eastern side of the region to Grundy and Marion counties on the western side of the region. TN MEP provides consulting and training services to help manufacturers and communities grow, succeed, and create high quality jobs. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Solutions Consultant is responsible for CIS and TN MEP business development and economic outreach activities in the Southeast Tennessee area.  Key responsibilities include cultivating manufacturing customers; developing and managing customer projects; consistently engaging clients to ensure long-term success and positive economic impact of delivered services; developing partnerships with professional associations and economic development organizations; and conducting marketing outreach along with some administrative duties.

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related discipline.

UTC Advancement shared the list of scholarship recipients with Chattanooga Engineers Club.  An annual scholarship check was presented during the February E Week luncheon.

For 2023 - 2024 academic year, the recipients were Alvin Binoy, Sydney King, Alexis Haney, Sue Kim, Andrew Devries, Valerie Ring, Andrew Payne, Brady Moore, Isaac Wheeler, and Lance Rose.

UTC told us, scholarships change lives, create legacies, and shape future. Each scholarship can provide relief, and open doors for a student. For some, it allows them to participate in clubs and activities.  For others, it offers the needed support to prioritize classes to complete the degree.

We are thankful for the ability to support scholarship funds.

The Chattanooga Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is offering its fourth annual scholarship for rising 9-12th grade students in Chattanooga, TN to attend the design summer camp offered by the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK). A minimum of two scholarships will be awarded for the 2024 Summer Design Camp 

UTK's 2024 Summer Design Camp will be held in person the week of July 14th – 20th
